We had the desire, the idea, and the vision to create an event that would truly touch the hearts of those present and bring them real value. That’s why, in celebration of International Women’s Day, we organized a panel discussion and a seven-day exhibition featuring remarkable women of Serbia who have left an indelible mark on our society through their work and contributions. In doing so, we connected the past with the present, demonstrating that women have continuously pushed boundaries throughout history.
Inspirational Speakers and Thought-Provoking Topics
The panel took place in the atrium of the BIG Fashion shopping center in Belgrade and brought together three extraordinary women, each offering something unique:
• Dejana Bačko, known as “The Girl with Wings,” was born without arms and accomplishes everything she does (which is nearly everything) using only her feet. She shared her story of perseverance, art, and sports. One of the most touching moments for the audience was when she spoke about her childhood struggles—how difficult it was to fit in, not just because of children’s reactions but also because adults often didn’t know how to respond to her differences. Yet, she proved that diversity is not a limitation but an advantage—today, she is a top artist and athlete, educating young people by showing them that being different is okay and that physical disabilities do not define one’s worth.
• Sanja Popović-Pantić, president of the Association of Business Women of Serbia, has been dedicated for nearly two decades to supporting and empowering women in business. Through her work with the Association, Sanja actively helps women start and grow their businesses and find their place in the business world. She highlighted an important observation—that while modernization has improved opportunities for women, new challenges arise with digitalization and artificial intelligence.
• Marija Pantelić, a psychotherapist, shared eye-opening statistics about violence against women and the phases women go through when trying to escape such situations. She emphasized that support and timely intervention are crucial, as many women face fear, doubt, and social stigma while trying to break free from abusive environments. Through her work, she believes that change is possible and that empowerment is key—”Every woman must know that she is not alone and that help is available; the first step is what matters most.”

The “Women Who Change the World” panel was more than just a discussion—it was a source of inspiration, support, and motivation for women to believe in themselves.
At the end of the event, all the women in attendance were invited to approach a “secret surprise wall,” where they were greeted with flowers—a symbol of strength, tenderness, and recognition for every woman who changes the world around her every day. This panel proved that every woman, no matter the challenges she faces, can leave her mark and inspire others.
